从高山之巅到东海之滨

这次远行，到了沿途两家葡萄酒厂去品尝葡萄酒，一个是在北卡风景如画的蓝岭公路顶端的林村瀑布葡萄酒厂（Linville Falls Winery）。当时是因为山上没有信号，去林村瀑布时迷了路，就到了这家酒厂稍事休息。

林村瀑布酒厂是参加过韩战的退伍老兵杰克威斯曼和他的太太一手建立起来的家庭酒厂，杰克早年在加利福尼亚的葡萄酒厂工作过，六十年代搬回老家北卡蓝岭公路旁边的山上去种圣诞树，七十年代中期八十岁才开始酿造葡萄酒，生意出外的好，现在的酒厂，是他的孙女和孙子们在经营，每个周末都有音乐会，吸引远近的乡民和远道而来的游客，一边欣赏音乐，一边品尝葡萄酒，结果是买一箱葡萄酒，或者砍一棵圣诞树，放在车上，晕乎乎地给拖到山下。

Jack's story has humble beginnings. He learned everything about hard work, gratefulness, and an appreciation for growing crops from his grandparents, Charlie and Ida. They also taught him how to make wine, along with other notorious mountain spirits, and that deeply planted seed was there with him when he ended up in California after serving as a medic in the Korean War from 1952-1953. At that time, he was at a ripe age of 22, and lived a short distance from Napa Valley and ended up spending a lot of his time there, learning more about winemaking and experiencing the start of their now world-renown wine culture.

一个是在麻省，和妹妹的同学与家长们一起开车到大西洋鳕鱼角海滩的路上，经过Truro酒厂（Truro Vineyards）去品尝了该葡萄酒厂生产的葡萄酒，和调酒师调制的各种各样的白酒。

Truro Vineyards is a family business, owned and operated by the Roberts family since 2007. After 40 years in the fine wine and spirits industry, with 20 years as a CEO of United Liquors, vineyard owner Dave Roberts retired in 2006 and began to pursue his dream of winemaking, enlisting his family’s commitment and support.

这个葡萄酒厂始于大卫罗伯茨年轻时候的一个梦想，50年后他终于梦想成真，拥有了这个酒厂。现在大卫已经退居二线，由他的儿子和女儿打理酒厂的生意。

It was in 1965 that Dave’s affinity for Truro Vineyards of Cape Cod began. He was on honeymoon with his wife Kathy and since then dreamt about owning and operating a vineyard. Over forty years later, when Truro Vineyards of Cape Cod went on the market, Dave's fantasy became a reality and he enlisted the commitment and support of his family as they embarked on this new endeavor and purchased the vineyard.

在波涛汹涌的大西洋海边拣石头子儿，玩累了，先去小镇子上的餐馆里饱餐海鲜，再到葡萄酒厂去品尝葡萄酒，然后到海角的尽头看日落，是到鳕鱼角海滩必备的几门功课。

Enjoy a reserved table on our property for 90-minutes where you’ll go through a guided tasting of five wines or spirits of your choice and receive a Truro Vineyards wine glass to take home.

每个人花30块钱，品尝完各类葡萄酒和白酒后，还白送一个葡萄酒厂的杯子，作为纪念。

想想也很有意思，从杰克到大卫，两个最普通不过的美国低端人口，一个住在高山之巅，一个住在东海之滨，殊途同归，都选择了酿酒作为最终的人生追求和职业选择。
