[读书笔记] 丁尼生 《尤利西斯》 节选

本杰明格雷厄姆八十岁生日爬梯上对儿孙们做了个演讲,演讲最后以这一段诗作结尾。这首诗是写老年的,不过我看了后觉得很受激励,就抄录下来以作自勉:

' w# i  {( X! e6 d'Tis not too late to seek a newer world.
4 W8 q# J' i% [& W9 r* H& v % y$ E% k3 q1 H5 k4 R
Push off, and sitting well in order smite

The sounding furrows; for my purpose holds. K+ R, \' `" J; M4 {
% \8 B: r  ?+ n( b1 r: M+ s
To sail beyond the sunset, and the baths$ ~' O4 n4 l1 l+ S; a2 h5 Z) P4 G' S

/ `" |5 }# P( ]3 B9 OOf all the western stars,until I die.

4 C% C$ Z5 \; I/ n8 VIt may be that the gulfs will wash us down;

It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles,# v; W# k. ]7 y! Q1 \

Though much is taken, much abides; and though

Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are
