[读书笔记] 丁尼生 《尤利西斯》 节选

本杰明格雷厄姆八十岁生日爬梯上对儿孙们做了个演讲,演讲最后以这一段诗作结尾。这首诗是写老年的,不过我看了后觉得很受激励,就抄录下来以作自勉:: g. C, _! z, @. ~. R9 j* ]- f

'Tis not too late to seek a newer world.

* K+ C: l0 F4 |2 D0 N# }9 fPush off, and sitting well in order smite

0 Z( A8 G4 X# g2 y- s! wThe sounding furrows; for my purpose holds5 s( z' v  O. _6 ?9 G3 R! k" \

& u$ a) ^; Q1 Y- S& JTo sail beyond the sunset, and the baths" L% u: @  c+ w

+ V# S/ C3 c/ |; cOf all the western stars,until I die.( n$ g: v0 R' [7 @

It may be that the gulfs will wash us down;

It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles,

We are not now that strength which in old days

Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are
