一个诗友想证明几个问题，转了一首英文诗的不同翻译版本。我看着都不太顺，问他要原文。他骂我喝醉了，找国内的他要原文。也是，只好自己拍自己一下~~~哈，拍出一个偷懒的招。转身腾云驾雾，直奔太平洋西岸的清谈国老虎山巨蟹巢。主人正好在呢，几分钟就拿到了原文：

Anecdote of the Jar

I placed a jar in Tennessee, And round it was, upon a hill. It made the slovenly wilderness Surround that hill. The wilderness rose up to it, And sprawled around, no longer wild. The jar was round upon the ground And tall and of a port in air. It took dominion everywhere. The jar was gray and bare. It did not give of bird or bush, Like nothing else in Tennessee.

国内诗友说：

这是美国现代派诗人斯蒂文斯（1879---1995）的一手作品。


     斯蒂文斯和弗洛斯特、威廉斯、庞德、艾略特一起，崛起于第一次世界大战前，并深深影响着美国诗坛，直到而次大战以后。他出生于宾夕法尼亚周的一个教员家庭，就学于哈佛大学。1901年在纽约读法律，当过律师。1916年底到康涅狄格州哈德福的一家保险公司任职，并升任副董事长。

     他在诗歌创作上受法国象征派影响很深。

我本来不懂英文，转来这篇诗，目的是想证明几个问题：
1.翻译的作品，很难达到原来语种的效果。
2.最主要的一点：中国古典诗词的意境和现代诗有着质的不同！！！
3.对于诗中意象的理解，中外也是有差别的。现代诗求新异，中国古典诗词有些是恒久的，甚至是固定的。

坛子佚闻

我把坛子置于田纳西州，
它是圆的，立在小山顶。
它使得散乱的荒野
都依此为中心。

荒野全部向坛子涌来，

它统领四面八方，
这灰色无花纹的坛子
它不孳生鸟雀或树丛，
与田纳西的一切都不同。

From the poem, we can find the jar was related to nature inruling. Although the wilderness was so large, it also showed itsslovenliness. But when someone put a jar on the hill of the wilderness.The jar let the wilderness be in order and balance. Therefore, we knewthe power of art (jar) is very large. The symbolic meanings of the jarare art or something about arts and graceful objects.
The poetˇs attitude to the jar is remaining ambivalent about it.He thought that wildness observed the jar (art) presently. However, thejar couldnˇt give of bird and bush. Therefore, wilderness would sprayaround very soon; and the jar (art) wouldnˇt rule the wilderness again.The gray and bare jar was made by human beings. People have the abilityof the creating art. If we never stop the ability, we can rule natureand change it forever.
Anecdote means a short and funny story. The poem likes a story,doesnˇt it? From the beginning of the poem, the jar was put on thehill. Then, the wilderness of Tennessee rose up to the jar, and theslovenly wilderness sprawled around the jar, no longer wild. Finally,because of the jar couldnˇt give of lives, it couldnˇt remain its ruleto the wilderness. When we read the poem; we seem read a very shortstory. It has the hero, setting, and outcome. So, I think that is whythe title was called ¨an anecdote.〃 Why the speaker placed the jar onthe hill of Tennessee? I think that is because Tennessee was the placewhere meant nature.
I like the poem. It is because that I can think very much to thepoem. I can get the sense of art, and I can study the relation betweennature and art. Both of them should be existed peacefully. Art leadsnature, and lets nature have more orders and rules. In other words,nature helps art, and lets art have another original beauty.

谢谢读后感！

那个四言解读（我很少说翻译的：），应该只算是我对英文诗的中文读后感。2005年，正是我‘无知者无畏’的学诗年代。搬来爱坛后，也曾有过修改一番搬过来的念头（已经搬了几首：），读了几遍之后放弃了。

我一向很喜欢罐子的，尤其是放在地上的罐子 ...

几个中文翻译里面我最欣赏的还是最后的秋菱解读，秋菱后面加了个笑脸，秋菱是否就是山菊姐的别名啊？

赫，那是偶唯一用来交流的马甲~~~也是虚荣心的产物

因为2004年在文学城写了几个家常菜谱，一不留神就成了‘大厨’。后来发现那里新开了诗坛，动了学诗的念头。怕菜坛的朋友笑话就用了这个马甲，还有个顺口溜：‘花开两朵，各表一支，山菊做饭，秋菱学诗。’

我也喜欢和尚版本的后面一半，尤其这两句：
坛子高耸，上通天宇
不生灌木，不招鸟雀
