一处勘误，一处补充，依据Paradiselost.org的十二卷本中的对应诗句

勘误
9:80, West from Orontes to the Ocean barr'd
Orantes是Orontes的错误拼写，即奥龙特斯河，发源于黎巴嫩贝卡谷地，经叙利亚和土耳其流入地中海。与下句的Darien（即巴拿马）对应，说的是从东到西。

补充
9:53, He circl'd, four times cross'd the Carr of Night

carr的本意是林间沼泽，如果不是字头大写的话，用来体现艰难跋涉，倒是可以说得过去。
但是the Carr of Night确实有希腊神话的来源，即the Chariot of Nyx夜之女神倪克斯的马车，与全诗的气氛吻合，参照法文译本，做chariot de la nuit, 可以认为carr就是car的typo。
目前的中文译本都是抓住night，而没有体现出夜之女神；这样处理，从忠于原文的角度看是合适的，但对于没有希腊神话背景知识的中文读者来说，夜和车的神话联系是很难看出来的。我会处理成“夜神的马车”，古希腊文化中的形象如下：

勘误

Carr of Night 在 Norton Critical Edition中是 car of Night. 正如作者的Heavenly Muse和Olympian Muse不同一样，这里的car of Night 和古代希腊的夜神的马车没有神话关系，只不过是企图给旧名赋予新意罢了
谢谢你的勘误。说明一下，我下载的是1667年出版的版本，有些字的拼写和当代的不同，但是翻译时参考了诺顿有批注的版本。这个版本没有下载的，因为美国的中学和大学都是用这个版本。
